Toxicology and Environment

  • Identify risk factors that may affect human, animal, and environmental health;
  • Characterize and assess human and animal exposure to specific environmental risks;
  • Determine and understand dose–response and risk–benefit relationships;
  • Formulate and implement risk reduction measures and evaluate their effectiveness.

(Bio)technology, Diagnosis, and Therapeutics

  • Assess the pharmacological and toxicological potential of new synthetic and natural compounds;
  • Identify and develop diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic response biomarkers;
  • Identify new drug targets, galenic formulations, and innovative drug delivery systems;
  • Study microorganism–host interactions, including the microbiome, immune response, and human and animal infections resulting from environmental contamination;
  • Explore clinical, molecular, and pharmacological determinants of therapeutic drug response;
  • Develop new analytical monitoring tools.

Health Education and Promotion

  • Promote the development of research in health education and promotion among young people;
  • Identify and measure the outcomes of health promotion practices and contribute to evidence-based decision-making;
  • Promote learning strategies and integrate educational technologies into Higher Education programs aimed at healthcare professionals.
